Bosch Drill Mod Complete

I recently modified my Bosch Bulldog hammer drill so that I can use external sealed lead-acid (SLA) 12 volt 3 Ah rechargeable batteries. This means more time drilling and less time dealing with drained batteries. Overall the process wasn't that difficult. Just removed the handle of the drill and rewired the inside with some cord and a plug. Then I ran about 50 feet of cord through a piece of webbing to protect it and keep it from tangling. Next I wired the batteries in series and place a plug on them. Now everything is easily plugged together and ready to rock. And no, you can't borrow it.

MELTDOWN

This is a screen capture from the National Weather Service page. I've always said that I'd rather it be too hot than too cold but this is crazy.

Friends in Primal Quest

Primal Quest is an expedition adventure race taking place right now in southern Utah. My friends Andy and Jason Magness are two members of a five member team named Jen's Men. This is a 400 mile race involving biking, treking, paddling, orienteering, rope-work, swimming, canyoneering....even horseback riding! To date, the team has done very well - as of today they are in 24th place out of a field that started at 86 teams. This is their 8th day of travel and it looks like they are going strong. If you go to the website you can check on their daily progress by locating them under "Teams" or "Leaderboard" and finding them by team name. There is also an interactive map and a GPS map where you can view the course. When you check out their team page the first thing you'll notice is their stylish pink jersies - probably Jason's idea. Not that it matters, by the end of the race everyone's shirt is brown. Also of notable interest is their "support vehicle."I swear, I think I saw something very similar to this car in one of the Mad Max movies.
